If I have a rw dvd that I no longer want to watch, do I need a computer to erase the disc? Or will a good dvd recorder handle this ( I have an artec which does not get a lot of respect on this site )? I have lost the manual and no doubt am not using the artec to its full potential but without the book, it makes things even more difficult. And sadly, the dvd recorder is nowhere near a computer with a dvd drive.
Thanks for all the help.

Doesn't make a difference you can erase either computer or standalone recorder. Make sure about +/- of the deck & make sure you have a muli-DVD writer. Just follow the screen directions.

Technically there is no ERASE function on DVD recorders, but reformatting the disc is essentially the same thing. Just look in the menu for FORMAT option.

Artec is made by ultima electronics, quick check on their web site reveals that the manuals are available for download.
