    Hello

Im having a problem erasing a Verbatim DVD+RW disc I have. I am able to convert and burn a movie onto it but when im through watching the movie I go into Nero and click Full Erase and it gets to about 90% and the disc just comes out with no messages or anything. I look at the back of the CD and sure enough it looks empty but when I try to burn another movie onto it, convertx2dvd tells me that the disc I inserted is not empty... What am I doing wrong? Is there a certain way I have to burn movies onto these discs inorder to be able to reuse them again?\

    Thanks for the help
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Just a little update when I put the disc into convertx2dvd when it tells me that the disc is not empty and that it will overwrite previous tracks I hit "OK" with the burn and towards about the 75% mark I get this error:

write error 05 63 00 Illegle request end of user area encountered on this track , i put the disc in the dvd player and it does work however part of themovie is cut out.

I use Ashampoo Burning Studio and it works just great, since my Daytek DVD recorder is acting up and won't erase +RWs. Haven't used Nero in years....

well its not even nero thats actually giving me problems because i read somewhere that you dont even need to erase the disc because some programs simply overwrite the data thats written on it already... but im still getting this problem...

The disc probably requires reformating. It's a very slow process and not always successful. It's sometimes a lot easier to just replace the DVDRW

  5. Yes they do go weird RW discs, I have well known name brands that screw up and weird brands that have erased 100's of times.

Try cleaning the disc with a running tap and hand liquid soap, leave standing up to dry naturally.

If you have access to dvd recorder that will erase it, try that.

Nero can sometimes ruin the data structure of RW disks so it even can't recognize
and reformat it (I had it several times).

ImgBurn was always able to see the disk and suggested to format it (takes some time).
After that even Nero could see and write the disk again. I now always use ImgBurn.

I tried to do a full erase disk also with Alcohol 120% and its still no good.
Its like once I use a blank dvd+rw disc to convert and burn a movie onto it, the disc is over with, i try to erase it and rewrite but convertx2dvd will still tell me it needs to reformat the disc...

These rewritables were expensive too, i thought verbatim were the best and im still having problems erasing them... Anyone else have any ideas of what I can do??

Try in another drive or set-top dvd-recorder and/or update drive firmware to newer or custom version. If it has label side damage, it might be garbage.

DVD+RW are known to die easily. Flip the disc over, carefully inspect it for craters in the phase change materials.

The disc is screwed, bin it.

Brand name has little to do with it. After an experience like yours I now keep one DVD+RW for image files, another for VIDEO_TS folders and a third for data files only. That minimises the amount of reformating required and appears to extend the life of the discs.

DVD+RW discs are fairly cheap. When there are problems, I just thrown them away. Verbatim makes the best, but I've even had to throw a few of theirs away. It's not worth trying to use a suspect disc and ending up with something you can't watch.
