  1. I've been pulling my hair out attempting to join a
series of AVI's into one file. I captured the original
video with VirtualDub using the Huffy 2.11 codec. I then
trimmed out several segments and then tried joining the
remenants back together. It seems that as long as the file
size stays under 2GB everything's okay. If it gets any larger, I get error messages and an unusable end product.
I've tried using several different programs, VirtualDub,
MGI Videowave 5, & Ulead Videostudio, with similar results
    in each.

I read something about they're being a problem with file
sizes of 2GB+, if you're using FAT32 but I'm using NTFS.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated?

  2. If your primary objective is to eventually create an MPG file, why don't you encode those AVI files into MPG, and then combine the MPG file ? that way you won't have any size limitation.

  3. That's the road that I've already gone down. I haven't been happy with the results that I've been
able to get. Using TMPGEnc has turned out the best (read: "The only program I've been able
to get acceptable quality MPEG encoding out of&quot, in my attempts, but it kills the sound for a
second or two on each side of the join. I've been playing with the AVI's to try and make one complete file that can then be encoded and avoid the MPG joining problem.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
