Always used this forum/site for problems and usually find a solution but couldn't find one for my problem.

Got myself two MKV files which have been split at some point.

I have used mkvmerge gui before and its worked with no problems at all.

Now because (im assuming this) the mkv was previously joined and split, they both have the same track ID's
When joining in mkvmerge I get part 1 played twice in a row and no sign of part 2.

    The errors:
    Code:
Warning: matroska_reader: Could not keep the track UID 609880219 because it is already allocated for the new file.
Warning: matroska_reader: Could not keep the track UID 2715930044 because it is already allocated for the new file.
Warning: matroska_reader: Could not keep the track UID 489503935 because it is already allocated for the new file.
So I tried to extract the audio and video track out seperatly from the two mkvs, join the video files (which failed to work)

Any help would be appreciated. Pretty new to this whole mkv codec

I think avidemux can join mkvs also(without reconverting).

Not sure if its possible in there. Been told by someone who has the same mkv's that they have joined them using mkvmerge no problem.

Shame there not interested in helping me to merge them.

I will help you ten years later because this thread is still coming up when people do a search:

Open the file with mkvtoolnix-gui.exe from portable version of
    https://www.fosshub.com/MKVToolNix.html

Do not click on Add source files > Instead, *DRAG* the first source file to under where it says Source files:

Then *DRAG* the second one > which now opens the Adding or append... window so you can select:
    Append to an existing file.

Do the same for all files you wish to merge.
Optionally, go to the Output TAB and select: Generating chapters: One chapter for each appended file.

In case of further problems with say 5 files, try appending File 1 and File 2, then separately Files 3, 4, 5, then finally merge the two newly created files.

    Additional info:
    https://mkvtoolnix.download/downloads.html#windows

This can also be done inside Avidemux:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/avidemux/files/avidemux/
File > Open first file >
    File > Append

Be sure to select the correct Audio Output [copy] and correct Output Format.
In case of problems with many multiple files, try to merge fewer at a time.
