plz help. i've been trying for the longest while to create a dvd from scratch with dvd-lab pro and i'm only wasting dvd's. Essentially, i'm testing it out, and i got a lil two minute mpg clip to be my movie clip. I added menus, chapters and the works to make it look dvd like. Initially, i burnt it to a cd-r and after it was burnt, i tested it on the pc and it worked but when i tested it on a stand alone dvd player it was producing an error. so i used nero the next time around and the same thing happened. So i tried a dvd. When i tried it in the stand alone dvd player, it said loading and it was loading like forever so i thought it was de speed at what it was recorded at because i have a prehistoric toshiba dvd player so i tried at a slower speed and nothing worked.

Is dvd-lab pro any good. I mean i tried every other program y'all recommended and dvd-lab pro seems more user friendly or it may be dat i'm just real friggin slow . Another thing, if i use nero to burn a dvd movie and not a cd r how would i do it.

plz someone help me. in my area, dvd's are worth a bomb

    1. Start by getting a DVD-RW to test with, instead of wasting DVD-Rs.

    2. DVD structures burned to CDRs are called mini-DVDs, and very few players support them, so I'm not surprised they didn't play

    3. Only buy and use good quality DVD media that suits your player. Does your player prefer +R or -R ? Make sure you buy the right type. www.nomorecoasters.com is a good starting point to see what is good and what is bad as far as media is concerned. It might be that your player is so old it just can't handle burned media at all.

    4. How did you burn your DVD ? Did you use the DVD video template in Nero, or just create a data disc ? What files did you burn ?

    5. Can you post a screen shot of your connections window from DLP and a copy of the compile log ?

this is the best i could do with the snapshots

with respect to nero, i have v 6 and i went to the wizard and said new dvd-video

and it displays the audio_TS and the video_TS folders

the files that would have been output from dvd-lab pro during compilation, i used and placed in the video_TS folders. as you would know they are all vob and ifo files.
i have a question. what are these vob files and are they compatible. if not, isn't this another reason why my dvds aren't playing on the stand alones

What DVDs do you use ? (Brand, Media Code)
Does your old Toshiba play other burned discs ?
Have you tested you discs on any other players ? If so, what were the results ?

the brand is ritek and the dvd player has played some burnt dvd's.
i also tried de mini dvds on a ps2 and a newer toshiba n it didn't work. On both stand alones, they kept sayin loading and nothing more. however, i haven't tried the dvds on anything else but my old toshiba.

Some people have been having problems with Ritek of late, so a change of brand might help you. Look up your DVD player int he players section (to the left) and see what plays for others.

    1. Media - www.nomorecoasters.com

    2. What is DVD - https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

    3. Your old Toshi ? Probably not. Some players can play discs that contain just VOBs or even raw mpeg files. Most cannot. Some can also play Divx, Xvid and similar files. These players are designed to do this, and contain extra circuitry not found in standard DVD players.

last question on this i hope

so can i make the assumption that the newer dvd players support the vob format and the older dvd players support whatever or is that a big assumption to make.

VOBs are part of the DVD structure (See What is DVD link). Some players will play VOBs that have been copied out of the structure. Most will not. All DVD players with the DVD logo will play discs created in a compliant manner (assuming other issues such as disc format compatability don't intercede)

I use it, have created a lot of different discs with it, from simple no-menu-autoplay discs through to complex multi-motion-menu discs and haven't had any problems. I haven't had to get down and dirty with programming yet, but it's nice to know those features are there is needed.

I also recognise that it doesn't suit everybody. Some poeple find it to complex, some find it too cumbersome and clumsy, and for some it just does way more than they need. There are enough alternative packages out there now for everyone to find a niche.

i got through with it. instead of burning it through dvd-lab pro, i decided to burn it in nero but i had to uncheck a good set of settings in order for it to work
