    I use Windows 2000 and I was trying to make the text bigger by going to the Desktop Properties, Advanced, Font Size, Large Fonts. I didn't really like the results so I switched back to Small Fonts. After I restarted, the icons in my System Tray as well as my program Min/Max/Exit buttons are all enlarged! I've done multiple restarts as well as switching around in the Font Size options but it still remains huge. How do I make them small again?

    Right Click on Desktop -->Properties-->Themes


    Choose the Windows Classic theme and things will calm down. You will lose your current font size, icon size, etc settings, but that sounds like a good thing in your case.
