.. I'm oficially pissed ofAfter i bought 3 softwares - last year the Pinnacle 9 - this year the Pinnacle 10 (Studio) and the Avid Liquid Edition 7 i managed to be almoust fired cause of these stupid softwares!
I work with video editing! Nice warm and OK job if u ask me. So .. i received as usual the 22DVD's with the works of the 16 cameras around my country, now i have to cut fx clean edit
Ok .. so i see that i don't have to capture the stuff analog cause the Liquid and the studio 10 have an Import DVD Title option (That's why i bought it) . Import went OK, edit went Ok with all 22 DVD's - and then i had to make clips -- 7 minute clips -- wmv.
All clips exported have audio sync issues. I mean the audio and video starts OK but in time goes ahead - so @ the finish i will have an 12sec blank on every video.
This does not happenning with analog mode captured files. However the quality is better that the analog.
NOW my BOSS says that i'm stupid and i don't wanna work cause i used the import feature, and planns to fire me @ first mistake!
What do i want. A clear answer - is this the way ?? Or the Pinnacle has to pay cause i'm planning to sue them if i have problems at work.
And BTW - there is such ripping software which ripps DVD to Uncompressed AVI ??
Cause i think that's may be a problem too.

To cut, or not to cut ... who is the splitter ?
-
1) why in the world are you editing DVD's? DVD's were never, ever meant to be edited. They are a final delivery format only! You should be editing the tapes.
2) editing DVD's ALWAYS incur audio/video synch issues. You must use special software to correct these PTS issues.
3) if you absolutely must edit DVD's, the two best software applications on the market, hands down, are the products from videoredo and womble.
http://www.womble.com/
http://www.videoredo.com/
Videoredo, especially, is really, really good about fixing PTS errors and correcting audio/video synch issues.
4) I can't believe, that as a video editor, you haven't heard of Pinnacle's shakey image when it comes to video editing applications. I've tried them and they were all crap, full of bugs, and never delivered what they promised.
Anyways, good luck! I would start all over. Either render the vob's into .avi's and start from there, or record the DVD's via an analog connection to a VCR or digital camcorder and then capture to your hard-drive and then start from those .avi's. -
I edit them cause they use DVD recording cameras
Not cause i want too!
And as i say - when i work with analog capture there are no issues - only with imported files.
The imported files have no problems, nor on the timelime-
Somewhere around the exporting is the problem!
Anyway i started over - i have only 8 DVD's leftThis time i captured analog - and what to see
there are no sync problems
Pinnacle is so .........To cut, or not to cut ... who is the splitter ? -

Indeed! i also think that softwares like Pinnacle and others like that are for amateurs cause has 1001 FX (hollywood) which i never use - max i use the fade - and dissolve - and some other very simple FX. I do not think that using a lot's of stupid FX made vid's better
However my boss is too old thinking
Thank You for support
I will try those softwares u mention it!
Analog capture is not a good aporach in my opinion - is just a way to work ppl to deathDVD is compressed anyway, so it will not be a better result if capturing that way, the digital import is better - if u count only the video resolution. On imported file there are no sync problems - the problems are made only by pinnacle !
I wrote them a letter - telling that i might sue them if i will get fired and they answered me that in the accept form they do not take responsability for the reliability of teir soft))
Commercial thinking.
Thank You againI'm happy that i've joined this forum!
And back to topic now:
Is there any software that RIPs DVD to Uncompressed AVI ?To cut, or not to cut ... who is the splitter ? -

OKthen
Now i think it's time to rethink the whole work line!
Here is what my job is:
1. Capture (analog) movies i receive on DVD
2. Edit them (cut parts off, transitions, titles)
3. Export to file (wmv NTSC 768kbps 320*240)
4. Export to file (mp4 -500kbps (iPOD))
------------------------------------------------------
For this i've used:
1. Pinnacle Studio Plus 10 :
-Capture from DVD Player [Boghe DVX50] & Edit
- Exports to wmv
2. Videora iPOD Converter (supports Batch) for mp4
------------------------------------------------------
Now, i thought that if the Pinnacle soft has Import DVD tile option
it means that i don't have to waste 2hour capturing analog a DVD
so i was using that to import the DVD (in 10-15 minutes)
but cause of the audio sync problems seems that i have to do it the old way. Meaning that i have to waste 2 hour on every DVD.
-------------------------------------------------------
Anyway if someone knows a better way to do this please enlight me
Thanx in advance

You could try FairUse Wizard. Easy to use and supports ffdshow encoding which offers various lossless codecs as well as DV.
