    Saw some Imation (3M) media on sale at Target. It's not really that cheap, but I only needed like 25, so I grabbed some. It's only then I noticed that it says it's made in India.

    Wonder if they're any good? Maybe I should try to read the media code off...

    Any one got a database of the media codes? Is it online somewhere?

    Undoubtedly MBIL (Moser Baer) media. The +Rs are decent from what I've seen.

    don't underestimate the indians. they're not all living in slums. the tech level of certain areas is pretty high. i remember newspapers calling that area "india's silicon valley".

    MBI-coded discs tend to be mediocre. See www.nomorecoasters.com

    I tried Moser Baer discs. They were on sale and quite cheap. Like the current Fulji discs, very hit and miss. I recall three in a row errored out on me once. So much for competent Tech level.

    Moser Baer India makes discs for Fujifilm (with the Fujifilm MID as you see here), as does Prodisc and possibly Ritek. They use dye and equipment supplied by Fuji and are made to Fuji's standards.

    That would certainly explain why the Made in Japan Fuji disks (TY's) are so much better than the Fuji branded discs made elsewhere.

    What does MID stand for? Made in ??
    MIT = Made in Taiwan
    MIJ = Made in Japan
