  1. Ok, I know the best media is the japanese media but it's almost impossible to find it at stores. I wouldn't go with Made in China, and lately all of this Made in Taiwan media has been a nightmare for me.

I just want reliable media, that I can burn a movie through Nero/DVD Shrink-Decrypter and be able to play it on my dvd player.

I had Media made in india before and it was not that bad.. any suggestions? brands? websites?

Also what's up with that Made in Thailand media? Is it good?

    Thanks

I usually buy from http://www.rima.com but I have bought from http://www.supermediastore.com as well.

The only reliable media sold anywhere in North America is Verbatim (some) and Taiyo Yuden (all good). I now mail order all my media. With Verbatim, I now for DVDs only buy the DataLifePlus media, which is made in Taiwan (DVD+/-R) or Singapore (DVD+R DL). Verbatim's CD-Rs are now made in China or India. Taiyo Yuden media is only made in Japan. Note that TY only sells DVD+/-R and CD-R discs in North America. No re-writeable media of any kind. TY makes DVD-R DL discs, but they are impossible to buy outside of Japan and no internet stores import them. None of the Japanese media stores will ship outside of Japan. So for re-writeable or DVD DL discs, you have to buy Verbatim.

Thailand media is probably awful. Taiwan media is hit or miss. MCC made media is excellent. Other companies are not good. Verbatim theoretically forces all their manufacturers to meet their rigid standards, but there have been some allegations that the made in India DVDs simply are not of the same quality as the Taiwanese or Singapore made media.
It seems that Verbatim briefly switched all DVD+R DL production to India but had to backtrack and start using the Singapore plant again, probably due to quality issues.

The North American marketplace now mostly only sells cheap crap media in stores. Verbatim does still sell some of their better discs in some stores, but for the most part mail order is always cheaper. For example, I can mail order a 50 pack of DVD+R DataLifePlus discs that I know are made in Taiwan (by MCC) or I can pay more and go to the local Best Buy and buy a 50 pack of Made in India discs.
