Is there a program that joins the VOBs. I have 4 VOB files:
VTS_03_001.VOB
VTS_03_002.VOB
VTS_03_003.VOB
VTS_03_004.VOB
I would like to join them in to one and convert the combine file to MPEG 4. I tried the Vobedit06 but do not undersrtand how it works. I followed the guide, but could not get the merged file.
If anyone knows of the program that joins the VOB or the easier way of doing that I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

That is what I did.
1. I renamed the files as
VTS_01_001.VOB
VTS_01_002.VOB
VTS_01_003.VOB
VTS_01_004.VOB
2. Opened the VTS_01_001.VOB
3. Selected Edit/Join Clips.
4. Pressed Save button in the Save dialog.
5. Press OK button in the second dialog.
It started the process, but in the end it created the VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB and VTS_01_4.VOB.
Is that what it supposed to do or there should be one jointed file? -
Thanks.
I don't undestand the point of Vobedit then. If I already have a set of multiple VOB files, why then after joining them I get another set of multiple files?
Is there another tool that converts the VOBs into one MPEG file that does not need .net framework? -
Depending on the size of the mpegs,if you join them and then author it as a dvd,you may end up with more than 1 vob,as they can not be longer than 1 gb.You can rename them to .mpg, join them in videoredo, but if you have, say a 3.5 gb.mpeg, and you author it as a dvd file you will still have 3 1gb. vobs and a .5 gb. vob.

Hi jimmalenko:
Will this VobEdit join 2 vobs from 2 different video sources. I have 2 AVI files which I converted to DVD (vob files) using DivXToDVD. From each of those 2 AVI files, I got 1 vob file. Now I want to join them.
I got VobEdit but still don't know how to use it.
Note: I could not join the AVIs because of their different frame rates. I tried to fix this problem with VirtualDubMod without success. -
suppafreak,
all you need is vobmerge. It will merge all of your vobs into one large vob. From there you can do what ever you need.
You can find vobmerge on the left panel under tools.

VOBEdit will still split into 1GB chunks and it does this because DVD compliance says it must. If the sum of your 2 VOBs is < 1 GB then it will give you one file.
The first half of http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm guides you through the process. If in doubt, Google it. -
The sum of my 2 vob files is only 642MB.
VobEdit did seem to merge my 2 vob files. I could tell by the size of the new file; its size is approximately the sum of the 2 vob files. Also, as VobEdit was joining the 2 vob files, I did see it indicate that both vob files were merged.
However, I authored the new vob file onto a DVD and all I could watch was the old vob file #1.
Any suggestions?
Oh, remember, the 2 old vob files come from 2 separate AVI files. In other words, I used DivXToDVD to convert 1 AVI file to a set of files for DVD authoring (.ifo, .bup, .vob, etc.). Then, I did the same thing with the other AVI file and got a completely separate set of files for DVD authoring.
Do you think this is why VobEdit had problem merging these 2 vob files? -
Ideally the VOBs should be identical, including the same number of audio and/or subtitle streams, and the same characteristics such as frame size and whatnot. You'd be much better off IMHO using authoring software to join them - place them in the same track and it should join them properly.
If in doubt, Google it. -
suppafreak: You could use Mpeg Video Wizard and join the vobs in there. It will take them and join them, if you place them all on the timeline. It will export them as a single Mpeg2 file and will not re-encode them so you will have the original quality that you started with.
You could take this file and take it to your DVD Authoring Program, and make a DVD. Since it is only 600mb, you could put several more files on the same DVD, because you have 4 Gb to play around with. -
I did use Nero to try your suggestion. But Nero refused because both sets of files are exactly identical.
I ended up authoring these2 vob files as 2 separate titles. So instead of having just 1 title and 10 chapters, I have 2 titles. One title has 9 chapters, the other has 1 chapter.
When I play the DVD, at the end of chapter 9 of title 1, the picture was freezed for about 2 or 3 seconds before chapter 1 of title 2 was played.
That's the best I can come up at the present time. -
I think if I could join the 2 AVI files, my problem will be solved.
But my AVI files have different frame rate and VirtualDubMod refuses to merge them. One AVI has 29.75, the other, 24.975. I tried to use VirtualDubMod to change the frame rate of one AVI file to match the other file and failed. -
I only have Nero which seems to not like my identical sets of vob files.
-
Nero doesn't author, Nero burns. NeroVision Express is their authoring tool AFAIK and it sounds like you're not using it.
Hmmmmmm .... easiest way to do this;
TMPGEnc DVD Author > Add DVD Video, point it to first VIDEO_TS folder, Next your way through. Whilst on same track, Add DVD Video and point it to 2nd VIDEO_TS folder. Output and Bob's your mother's brother-in-law.If in doubt, Google it. -
As mentioned previously by somebody else, VOBMerge will very easily and simply join your VOBs to one huge VOB
Another side effect I found of VOBMerge is that it can also join ANY file format, just rename your output to whatever the source format is
So, if you want to join a stack of MP3s to one big MP3, just select all files from the file requester as just change the output extension to MP3. Thats it. Bear in mind I believe VOBMerge does NO checking at all, so it will happily join any file you throw at it without complaining -
Hi
Please excuse this question of mine. But, where is vobmerge? I went to tools and could not find it. -
Thanks, baldrick
I was following the instruction above and did not remember our wonderful google. I found it.
Cheers
