this philips dvd model seems great after to downgrade to 0531(hated macrov) but it seems i may have lost svideo capability. i get a black/white display of what im trying to watch when only the svideo is plugged in. i have to connect the yellow cord(of the red, white, yellow cable) to get a picture showing in color. i think my svideo was working fine b4 that.

Have you tried changing the output type in the video menu?

Sounds like a PAL/NTSC issue. Some DVD players have that issue when playing a PAL disc in a NTSC player, and vice versa. There is a setting in the menu for PAL/NTSC output.

have you tried another svid cable? or even tapping / wiggling the current cable? it could one of the pins is loose or bad in the cable and the color info isn't coming through. this happened on an old player of mine.
