Plextor-740UF - Burning Problem

I just bought this burner. I wanted to get into the DL DVD-Rs. I bought media RiDATA DVDR+DL Speed 2.4x. (Which is recomended on the Plextor site)

I have 3 movies (no menues) that I have Shrunk on my hard drive using DVD shrink 3.2. I then took my TMpgenc dvd aurhor 6.1 created a new dvd/menu showing the 3 movies. It was about 7 gb. Authored the new dvd onto my hard drive.

Pulled up Nero 6 (that came with the plextor burner) to burn the movies. It seems that all goes well with layer one.. but it seems to fail at layer 2? I have been able to burn CD's and 4.7 DVD R- & + fine.

Thoughts on if the problem is the burner, media, or the way the movies are shrunk, other?

I have burned many a DVD and Authored many. But Im still a newbie compared to folks on this site. Thank you.

Nero has a known issue with burning DL media. As you have already figured it, the issue occurs at the layer break. I don't recall if there is a fix for v6 or if it is fixed in v7. Most of the suggestions that I have seen were to use a different burning software.

Do you have a suggestion on burning software? I tried to use the burning fuction in dvd author and got the same error. Because on Nero.. you are right it seemed to stop at the layer 1-2 break.
