If you have a newer version of CCE Basic, 2.70.something, then I would use that instead of that old version of CCE SP. And as a tip, it is usually a good idea to activate the UnDot().Deen() commands to the filters options. Big improvement when compressing large movies. Half d1 and half space for extras and menu encoding enabled are also two big movie/main feature quality enhancers. I hope you've updated to the latest DVD-RB 1.09.2

You might also try playing with the free HC encoder supplied in DVDRebuilder. Make sure the settings are on "best quality." Having always used CCE with Rebuilder in the past, I was doubly surprised at how nice the output using HC was!"I'm sick of paying for dinner and being served cowshit, while they give the bums eating out of the garbage my meal."

Hi, once again thanks for taking time to reply to my post. The great thing about DVDShrink is that there are not too many options for a simpleton like me to worry about, just select your source, your destination, what you want or don't want and more or less away you go but with DVDRB using CCE there is one thing I am not sure about, VBR_Bias, Quality_prec and VBR_passes. At the moment I have them set to VBR_Bias 25 Quality_Prec 20 and VBR_Pass 2 (3 if I use SP) Doing a search didn't really show anything conclusive as it seems everybody has their own idea of which is best and I was wondering if anybody knew of a rule of thumb on what settings to use. Timoleon, I tried HC and yes it seemed very good but as I paid for CCE Basic I feel I should use it
and Hatchetman, thanks for the links, i sussed the use of filters and have a trial going on now. Anyway again thanks in advance

Rule of thumb for "VBR_Bias and Quality_Prec" = Leave them at the defaults of the installer. Of course you can play with them and try to find the best. But it will probably vary from encode to encode so I leave them at what the programmer thought was the happiest medium. As far as VBR_Pass, CCE Basic is limited to 2 while SP can do 10. It refers to the number of passes the encoder does on the video (-1 for analysing). This really depends on your eyesight and TV display. Theoretically 10 would be best (taking about 5 times longer than usual to complete) but most can't seem to tell a diff beyond 4 and argue anything else is pointless. Me personally I do 6 pass usually unless I am away from my machine for an entire day, then I'll do 10 pass. I figure, why not, nothing else better for my machine to do while I am away
Quality is superb!

Okay ... so ... Comcast does a terrible job of broadcasting the Sci-Fi channel and lots of noise and fuzz ... to watch as a watch the show.
Dark Kingdom came on Monday and Tuesday and quality looks terrible ... so I could copy them to DVD ... load them into my computer ... and perhaps use DVD Shrink to join them both and then fire up DVD Rebuilder Pro to take advantage of the Dot remover and end up with a cleaner looking video ... YES !!!
Okay ... sounds great ... now I saw the link ........

and did a ... webpage save-as ... to my hard drive.
Any more input on the specific line to include to use avisynth ... I've never used the program ... messed with it ... example: virtuadub. DVD-RB uses/needs it but I've never messed with it. I have no experience with it. -
UnDot().Deen()
that is all I have used
I hear it works great too with video shot in low lighting conditions that result in grainyness.
Of course there are lots of other options out there, I figure those must be good enough since they are 2 of the only 3 filters packaged with the DVD-RB installer.
