  1. I captured the video from my digital video camera using windv, this has worked fine for me in the past. I needed to quickly free up some tapes so i stupidly didnt check the avi files. For some reason all three resulting avi files (13 gb each) didnt have any sound. It is now too late to try and re-capture them as we recorded over them. These tapes are important to us so i am desperate to try and retrieve the sound.

Using gspot i get the following message under "Fil" panel.

This is an invalid AVI file due to corruption of the data in the header. This is a serious problem, and this file is not likely to playable

Details: While processing chunk /RIFF:AVI , found bad length value 1069466628 at file offset 0x0000fff8

I can play the file from start to end, just no sound. Can this be fixed?

You can try dropping them into Virtual Dub (With the addition of the Panasonic DV Codec) and see if it might help. Scan the video for errors. Also see if any audio shows up.

  3. I have installed the codec, opened it in virtualdub and still no joy. The image is what i get when i open the status window, there seems to be "some" data there in the audio, but i cant get it to play. Also, in the "Perf" panel, it says that audio streaming is disabled. But it isnt.
