I use DivxToDVD toconvert AVI's to DVD am an usually happy with ther results. Occasionally though I notice that as the image pans accross the screen there is a slight stutter. Usuallthe image pans ok then stutters slightly and so on. It doesn't ruin the result but is a little annoying.
Is it possible that this happens because of an NTSC to PAL conversion or is ther another reason.
Also when checking an AVI in mediainfo i find it often shows Aspect Ratio as 2.35 and framerate as 23.976.
In this case if I'm setting up DivxToDVD should I set the format at 16:9 or 4:3 and should I set the format as PAL or NTSC as 23.976 doesn't seem to fit either.
Sorry to be an amateur!

Probably because of the NTSC to PAL so convert to NTSC as 23.976 is NTSC....click on What is DVD in menu here to the left. And most dvd players in europe supports both ntsc and pal.
23.976 sources are usually not interlaced so it isn't any field order issue. -
DivxtoDVD converts 23.976 to 29.976 by adding duplicates, so you will still get stuttering. The current version of ConvertXtoDVD encodes 23.976 as 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown and avoids this problem.
Yes, converting to PAL will produce stuttering, but so can keeping it NTSC in that old version of the software.Read my blog here.
