  1. Hi, I burned an avi file to dvd and when playing it on my dvd player, the image is squashed horizontally to fit the standard (pan and scan) tv screen I'm using (I need to get a wide screen tv!). The original movie is in letterbox format and I used Showbiz 2.0 to burn the disc (though I also have Nero). I tried adjusting the display settings on my dvd player, but this didn't work.

How can I re-rip this so that it displays in letterbox on my tv? Or is there a setting somewhere I can tweak without needing to re-rip?

    Thanks.

You could try changing the AR flags in the IFO using IFOEdit. This might be enough for yur player. It sounds like Showbiz doesn't support 16:9 encoding, in which case you need to use an encoder that does. Tmpgenc, CCE Basic, Procoder Express all support 16:9 encoding. If you want a simple solution, ConvertXtoDVD also supports it.

  3. Thanks, I tried it with Nero 7, which has 16:9 formatting. Works great.
