I finally got a dvd player that will play vcds but my problem is all my movies on my computer are divx and there for too big when i convert them to mpeg. Is there some way I can make the divx movies go to vcd without making them to big? The mpeg file when i was done was over 1gig but the divx file was only 750mb or so.

Read the forums and learn. Then go out and learn the "reason" divX
was created and its advantages and disadvantages over VCD. After u have done all this, come back if u still have further questions.

Dude, I know what divx and vcds are. I want to put the divx onto cds so I can watch it on my tv. I know how to convert the movies to mpeg and all that they are just to big so I was wondering if there was somethign else i could do. Don't act like you know it all and no one else knows anything.

well your best bet at keeping QUALITY is to convert it to an XVCD, and in some cases u will be able to keep it on 1 CD. but many DVD players cant read XVCDs, so for COMPATIBILITY reasons u might wanna try SVCD, itll still look good overall, but might become 2 CDs. just dont make it a normal VCD as quality will be about average when u could have done the same thing with an SVCD. If u dont like the fact that the DivX is now more than 1CD theres not much u can do about that other than trying out different XVCD templates to try to get it to fit. Personally i dont like DivX all that much, its good looking and all, and theres reasons for that which im not going to get into. But IMO SVCDs are much nicer in quality and compatibility (despite the size), though DivX is good at what it does (good quality *note i didnt say great as i have seen MANY DivXs and can still find problems with it* in a reasonable filesize). i personally aim for quality, not filesize, but thats me. hope that helped on which to choose, read the GUIDES to the left to learn how to convert it into whichever format u like.
PS. as said earlier, i doubt youll get it on 1 CD but u can try, and personally thats why id get the SVCD instaed of the DivX, unless of course your using a "l337" P2P program to download your stuff, thats understandable. -
Just split the movie up into 2 files using tmpgenc and make 2 discs.
If you must keep it on one cd, then use the bitrate calculator available on this site to compute what bitrate you must use for video and audio and encode an mpeg file using those settings and burn an xvcd (non-standard) which may (or may not) play on your set top dvd player
