I found a couple of other threads on this but can't seem to get it right. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious. I got a DVD+R set of the SciFi channel's 'Invisible Man' off ebay. While the audio and video quality is great, the audio on the first 7 episodes only comes out of one speaker. I know just copying the left channel to the right won't be true stereo, I just want it to sound better and give the receiver something more to work with. Apparently, the easiest thing to do is convert the ac3 to a wav, copy the left ch. to the right, convert back to ac3. I tried to open the ac3 with ffmpeg but it couldn't find anything to work with. So basically I need a 'step by step,' ie. opening, extracting, converting, reinserting to file for burning, etc. Also, even though ifoedit says the audio is 2 ch and sound is only coming out of one speaker, is the audio really mono (left speaker only), or 2 ch with little or no sound in the right speaker? If so, what sort of extra step is necessary? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Each disc has 4 episodes with a basic interactive still menu with no audio. The audio_ts folder shows 0 bytes, video_ts about 2GB. Ifoedit says the video is MPEG2 with AC3 2 ch audio. These are the tools I currently have:
Audacity (someone said it reads mp2 and ac3, but it doesn't)
DVD Decrypter
DVD shrink

First you will need a guide to extract the files from vob to mpeg, there are quite a few guides available to choose from.
After you have the mpeg files, you can use a program such a Goldwave to extract and manipulate the audio.
After the audio is corrected, you can then use tmpgenc to remux the audio/video and reauthor the dvd, or depending on your authoring software, add the audio/video files to your software and reauthor.Google is your Friend
