I think he asked in the right place for this site, since this is not a game site. But you might be better off going to a gaming site and asking there.

Sounds like your disk is messed up. Try isobuster and then just copy as a regular data disk.

Putting the latest upgrade and no cd on the same disk is rather useless in my opinion since the next upgrade they come out with will render that disk unplayable. It's easier to download the newest upgrade once you log onto bnet anyway.

As for the no cd, there are tons of sites hosting the latest versions of that. Just google it. The no cd file is only a few kilobits in size so no real need to have it on disk.

I have to use the no cd crack as well. For some reason my drive always heats up too much when I play and just cooks the disk. I've gone through 4 backup disks already in the last few years until I got the crack. I just made a data copy of the original and then download the upgrade and crack each time a new version came out.

Yeah it sounds like you disk has bit the dust I have had some disks take up to 18 hours but it sounds like your disk is just too damaged to copy

He was saying use a certain software to save it to your HDD and use a NO CD crack. The crack will also let you go online without the CD, but if Blizzard updates their site, your crack won't work unless you get an updated crack.

First, try to fully copy the information off the damaged cd onto your hardrive. Look into programs that specialize in this. (Try googleing the words "read damaged disk".) Or, try copying with zero's or something and cross your fingers that it's not an important part that's damaged.

Second, once the data is copied onto your comp and you can see all the different files (not the one file which is an iso disk image, but all the separate files like .exe, .dll, etc.) copy all these files onto a new disk. Burn. That's it.

Third, install and run starcraft in multiplayer mode. Go log onto Battlenet. The first thing battlenet will do is tell you you need to update your version of sc and start feeding you the download. When it's complete it will restart sc for you.

Fourth, as sc is restarting a little box pops up telling you what this versions changes/fixes are. Note the version number on this box. They're up to 13e at this point i think.

Fifth, google "starcraft no cd 13e" for example. Alot of sites will pop up where you can download it. Its only a few kilobits so don't worry about putting it on the disk.

In another month or two Battlenet will probably force everyone to get the next upgrade. Version 13f or 14 or something. When that happens, EVERYONE who logs onto bnet must upgrade or they can't play online. When that happens, you wait a few days and google for the next no cd crack. The upgrades happen every few months whether we like it or not. We have to get new no cd cracks after every upgrade, whether we like it or not.

Honestly, if it's only the original Starcraft, you can save yourself loads of time by visiting a local game store and picking up a used copy for $9.99 and then back up the clean copy with the NO CD crack. Then place the disc in a safe spot.

Me personally, if I had to spend this much time dicking around trying to fix a really scratched disc, it'd be worth the savings of time and effort to just to get a used copy at EB or Game Stop.
