Cables won't do much to help unless for very long runs.

What display card are you using?

All display card "TV output" is scaled. Some cards do better than others but you are looking at ~640x480 quality in the end.

S-video should look better than composite.

  4. I run my standard TV out from s-video to my iScan HD+ scaler (scaled to 1080i) then to my 56 inch 1080p DLP and the picture quality is much improved.

I'm experimenting with the ATI 550 tuner to ATI 9550 w/HDTV adapter upscaled to 1080i to the HDTV with YPbPr.

NTSC tuner (ABC) input to 1080i upscale through ATI 9550 (Theater 200) -- ok to good. The internal analog channel upscale on the HDTV is much sharper.

720p off cable HDTV tuner to HDTV -- simply superb, great !
