I just purchased a Sony DCR-SX41 Cam and shot some video. Using the packaged software PMB I uploaded the video on to my computer from the memorystick and I am thinking that the quality should be better. I have the camerea on HQ. Someone told me that I need to add Codecs to Windows Movie Maker and that would improve it so I got the latest Codec Pack. But really don't know how to use it as I imported the clip into movie Maker and didn't see much of a change. What should I do???

  2. the best program to view dvd spec mpeg-2 like your cam outputs is a dvd software player like powerdvd, it will take care of de-interlacing for viewing on the pc. if you use something else make sure de-interlacing is turned on.

and since that cam records 720x480 mpeg-2, it isn't going to be editor friendly. your best bet would be to not edit it at all and just use the files as source material for dvd authoring. if you need to edit them first womble's mpeg video wizard would be the first choice. anything else will probably re-encode the video, which will reduce the quality.

assuming dvd output is what you are after of course.....
