    Hi,

I am looking for a freeware audio transcoder that will help me convert a standalone 5.1 AC3 into a 5.1 Aud-X file. Virtualdub will not allow me to import an audio-only vob to do the conversion.

    Thanks in advance.

    Vijay

    Hi.
    Please download free BeLight.

It will allow you to convert AC3 to 6 channel wave.
Then, use this wave to create the Aud-X stream
    with Aud-X executable frontend.

    That is all.
    Good luck.

I tried to create a WAV file using BeLight, but the output WAV is very choppy. I also tried to convert it to other formats (AAC, AC3 256Kbps) and the output is always choppy. I tried setting the frequency to 48Hz which didn't help. The original audio is a 5.1 channel 448kbps AC3 @ 48Hz.

OK, it seems that the AC3 file is corrupted.
I have tried (to make sure that everything is alright) to convert
an AC3 file to 6 channel wave with the use of BeLight 0.2.2.0 beta 9
    and it worked.

Maybe you are using some older version of BeLight? If not,
it seems that there is something wrong with the AC3 file.

The original AC3 file plays great. It is only the conversion which causes issues in Belight (latest version downloaded). This is so frustrating.

I also tried to create a Uncompressed PCM 48KHz 16-bit 5.1 WAV file using TMPEG Xpress (WAV only output for a specific dvd title). However Aud-X refuses to convert the resulting wav file. I even check to make sure that the wav output had the channels in the specified order: [Front Left] [Front Right] [Front Center] [Low Frequency] [Side Left] [Side Right].

Yeah. This seems to be some sort of a incompatible AC3 for BeLight.
I have converted hundreds of AC3 files with BeLight and
    never experianced something like that...

Unfortunately Aud-X uses older type of wave files, and the one produced by TMPEG Xprs is a new windows format.

Maybe you can convert this new wave to older type via BeLight
or other software? (for example, try spliting it into 6 separate waves and merge into 6 channel wave file with BeLight).

This will be fixed in a near future (Aud-X will accept both formats).
Also we will expand the type formats to AC3, so there will be no need
    for BeLight.

So far, I am sorry for difficulties... We are constantly working on improoving the software.

I will look forward to your upcoming versions. Until the AC3->Aud-X feature is implemented, I suspect a lot of users will be unwilling to switch. Ease of conversion is a big criteria.

As an immediate feature request, can you get the audx.exe encoder to pause ("press any key to continue...") when it throws out an error? the dos box closes so quick that we can't tell what went wrong.

The problem with AC3 that you experianced is rare.
However indeed incorporating direct AC3 to Aud-X conversion in our frontend
is necessary. Thanx for you requests.
