I am creating DVD from my digital camcoder : DV to DVD
I Captured the DV in Type-I format : done in ULead
Later edited the AVI. Tried various editing softwares like Ulead Videoeditor, VirtualDub, but the final edited file does not retain Datecode metadata. So I cannot use the datecode info to create my subtitles.
Problem is when I edit the AVI the datecode is lost except that only the first frame has the datecode informaton.
Is there any editor that will keep the datecode intact even after cuts and edits to the raw avi file ?
I do not want to use vDTS and embed the date info on the frame. With subtitles I will have the option to switch it on or off. I also tried dv_datecode but that cannot extract the date info after the file is edited. Any suggestions ?

Only things I can think of would be to imprint on the video frames, possibly increasing frame size, & cropping it out of the final. Or using an NLE that let's you set markers that lock to the clip when editing. Or maybe transferring your DV to PC as shorter, scene-based clips & use that 1st frame?
