Download the 130k scanner app and check it out. I scanned my system this evening and this little app found 4 spyware installations, all of which weren't found by SpyBotSD.

BTW, that page in the above url will ask you if you want to install the Active-X plugin for spyware scanning. Answer No and just download the small app in the middle of the page.

Damnit! It found stuff that Spybot, AdAware, MS Antispyware, and SpywareBlaster missed!
Used to think I had it all covered. Thanks for the link.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
@Faustus
Yes I do. Their spyware protection has found things spybot and ad aware didn't. It's quite good at it's mission.
Added: I tried the above linked scanner and just to let everyone know it failed to detect my active P2P program which all other software reports as spyware because of the nature of P2P. -
ROF - Since you didn't like it, nobody should try it. Thanks for your help.

all the reputable malware scanners are good at what they do. all are capable of false positives including ewido. all can flag leftover harmless strays. some malware can be difficult to remove for any app. not any one app will detect/remove all known malware.
ewido is considered a anti-trojan app.
using one or two trustworthy apps and one thats more specific for trojans is a good idea.
if these are constantly finding malware, then you need to make changes to your browser and/or your habits. -

With that in mind you really need a good strategy..... and layers of protection!!!
1. at least two good antispyware programs... and i know many people uses more......
2. a good spyware blocker....
3. using a good host file..... that almost like a spyware blocker in itself...
4. disabling certain parts of your java!!.... bad stuff willuse java...... to install itself smile..... and that good idea also to help prevent virus's
5. modify active x controls.. either disable or very least have it promptyou before it used...!!
Just a few thoughts I thought I add!!! ..... -
Speaking of your host file. Does anyone know a simple program that works as a host file editor.
Meaning makes it easy to add things and perhaps keeps up with known ad servers to add them automaticly.
If not I might have my friend whip one up. -

I'd like to try it, but I don't do activeX. Too much baggage.

Faustus, I use IEspell for Explorer. It sets on the button bar and it's freeware. Haven't found a good one for Firefox.

I run a couple of anti spyware programs and still get stuff occasionally. But that's usually because of places I go on the net.
It really pays these days to run some checks every day or so to keep on top of it. At least I haven't had any in quite a while that required major work to remove. -
I've got MS Antispy, Ad-aware SE, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster, along with Kerio Firewall and either AVG or Avast setup on multiple PCs. I ran Ewido on a friends this morning. Despite the horrendous amount of porn and warez sites he visits there was nothing but a few tracking cookies detected. If he'd run ad-aware anytime recently I doubt even those would have shown up. It doesn't seem like a bad scanner though.

Eh to lazy for that. I've just gotten spoiled bys pell check on my forum and this new laptop keyboard is throwingme off my game in both speed and errors.

I clean infected computers for a living and that is one of theprimary tools I use. I can run Adaware, Spybot, Hijackthis, AVG and etc and this one finds stuff theyall missed every time.
It rarely gives me any false hits. Worth every penny.
