installed my new drive first as slave. xp seen it no prob, says its working ok. drive wont regonize a thing, retail dvd, cd, blank dvd, cd nothing. powers up, tray opens but nothing.updated firmware, uninstalled,added as new hardware, tried as master same thing.any thoughts? its a pioneer dvr-110D oem. does oem have something to do with it? got it at http://www.blankmedia.ca/prodsubcats.asp?id=13

I would recheck the IDE Cables. Make sure they are connected both on the back of the Burner and on the Motherboard. Good Luck.

and if the above post fails it could very well be a defective drive. Sounds exactly like the issue I had with my 109 pioneer drive. Had it for like less then 2 weeks and one day it just died with the same symptoms your drive is giving you. Pioneer was very quick to replace/fix this as the drive is under warranty. Hopefully your problem is just a simple ide cable issue

i tried a new cable, no luck. its weird, it just wont mount anything. cd,dvd nothing. my progys regonize it. windows sees it, asigned it a drive letter.
