Problems burning cd's

I have a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-840S drive in my laptop, and am having problems burning cd's. It fails during the write process. I am using the latest version of Nero, and use Memorex cd-r for recording, and I have attached the burn log.

The only problem I see is Burn Mode DAO(Disc at once). Some drives can't do that....actually quite a few more than you'd think. Try TAO(track at once) and see what happens. I have two drives...only one can do DAO.
I also see you are using 80 minute CD-R's...check your settings on that too....make sure you are not set at 74 minute?
I'm shooting in the dark....I don't have Nero.

That's a very good point. If that turns out to be the problem, it might be a good idea to get a new burner that does support DAO. On audio CDs, TAO can sometimes leave noise in the gaps between tracks, which can annoying. It doesn't happen all the time, just often enough to be irritating. It really is a good idea to burn audio CDs using DAO.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I tried a different burning program with the same results, so I don't think its problem with Nero. It fails after just writing 3-4 tracks out of 13.

I don't have the problem with cd-rw, or dvd's, just these cd-r. Perhaps its the media that the burner doesn't like.

Well I was able to get a good burn by burning at 4x instead of the default of 24x. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but it burned OK.

DAMN....that was my next suggestion. I burn my "somewhat complicated" CD's at 8x most of the time. I personally have better luck burning DVD's at their fastest rated speed vs. CD's at their fastest rates speed.
