Guys, I'm trying to rip madagascare to my HD so that I can convert it to xvid, but for some reason my attempts keep failing I first tried using DVDDecrypter (which what I normally use) But it just locks up. I tried copying and paste, but it got to about 36% before giving my some error. I even tried DVDShrink 3.2 which also failed at 36%. The dvd is brand new and doesn't have a scratch on it; I've never had this happen before. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

Is "Madagascare" the new George Romero horror movie rip-off of "Madagascar"? Where the hyenas eat the penguins?

backed up madagascar last week using dvd decrypter and dvd2one. haven't met a movie i could not back up with this combination. with this movie somewhere in the eighth vob the program said there was a problem and it would insert dummy blocks. after that it completed a successful rip. i watched it and it came out beautifully. i am using version 3.5.

OK, I've rip and created an xvid avi file and I have the audio. I muxed with Virtualdub Mod, but the output file is out of sync. Each time that I try, I get a muxed file in which the audio leads video. Can anyone help me with this?

I just went through this, trying to pull a few clips out of the main movie. My method may be a bit different from what you did, but it seemed to work:
    - Load VOB file into VirtualdubMOD
    - Check "File Information" to get audio skew info (each VOB I had was different)
    - Select clip to pull out (optional? - this was my main task)
    - Go to "Streams" menu, "Stream List"; right-click on the audio stream, select "Interleaving"
    - In "Audio skew correction" box put in value from "File Info" including negative sign if present
    - Save as AVI

The resulting AVI should be sync'd properly.

    Hope that helps,
    Jim

Well part of your method worked for me; I did manage to use some of your tips in order to sync my movie. The part that didn't work, for me anyway, was loading the vob in VDMOD and getting the skew info on the audio. Well all that did was tell me what I'd known all along; That my audio had no delay (0ms delay)

All I did was tinker with the "Delay Audio Track by" option until my clip was in sync. BTW, my audio was leading my video by 2000ms.

    Thanks for your help

After seeing the many topics on this particular disc I decided to see what all the hoopla was about. I had no problems backing up and shrinking the entire disc to fit onto a DVD-RW. I used the latest DVD Fab Decrypter for ripping the disc and DVD Shrink to allow it to fit onto a DVD-RW.

    No problems at all.

He wants to convert it to a xvid avi file. In my oppinion such an act performed on this beautiful example of CG animation should be punishable by death. There no reason in this world I would purposely degrade this movie to a Xvid. If I did not a DVD/RW drive,, it would be time to get with it and obtain one.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

You can't move to the next order of business without first having discussion of the motion and then voting.

Currently, the motion is punishment of death of james636 unless a DVD/RW drive is obtained.

    Any further discussion.
    Have a good one,

The result of xViding(there is such a word?) will degrade this fine movie to a point where the colors are washed out, the edges are pixelized, the sound quality is reduced, and the overall experience is diminished.

As a result, I vote to support the motion that a DVD/RW drive be acquired james636.

You can control that with Virtualdub. How many milliseconds is it?
Why not just back it up onto a blank dvd. It would be alot easier to do.

Punishable by death Come on I've never created an xvid before, so I thought I'd give it a try. I didn't know it would lead to an execution

Just a question here , but did anyone else see dvd decrypter when ripping it showed a different encryption key per vob as I did .

dvd decrypter failed at 36% here as well , but I Just pulled it file by file to folder , which worked .

I tried both DVDFab Decrypter and AnyDVD w/ CloneDVD2. Both worked. If you have tried them, make sure they are up to date and try again. Make sure the disc is clean and scratch free.
