  1. Alright so I would be on irc, when I leave my comp for the night and check back the next day I would be disconnected several times and its not because of the netsplit because it happens on diff networks at the same time. I tried updating my ethernet's drivers but that didn't do anything. The net would be fine when I'm using it but when I'm not it'll time out. So some specs:

Wired to a D-LINK DI-524 router, Asus a7N8X-E deluxe mobo which has 2 lans, one is regular is the other umm... something about gigabyte lan. I was thinking that maybe 1 was faulty so I hooked a cable up to each of them then to the router and I still get disconnected. I've checked under power management and I have nothing on turn off after x mins of idle.

The only thing I can think of is to make sure the Idle Timeout on your router is set to zero.

    Hope this helps.

woops, did you look at the power options for your LAN cardtart>settings>control panel>network connections> right click on LAN, select properties, under connect using: select the configure tab. at the top select the power management tab. make sure there is no check in the box.

  5. ok well ast it turns out, under my 2 lan properties it was checked off that the computer is allowed to turn off the device to save power, i unchecked that now so we'll see what happens. BTW Prince theres no idle in my router's setting.

have you tried bypassing your router. hook modem directly to your computer. this may help to narrow it down. router problem or computer problem?

Your router should be saving a log. My D-Link DI-704UP does. You might check it for the dropouts. You can usually set it up to log different events.

And I would also recommend you try bypassing the router temporarily to rule it out of the equation. Another thing to check is if your ISP is timing you out during inactivity. Haven't seen this on broadband, but you never know.

You might also look around the net for some logging programs that will record your online time and events.

If you aren't familiar with it, this is one site that may give you some help:

  9. Hmm well I'm pretty sure is not the router since it doesn't have a time out minute slot, I also check the DCHP properties and it's lease time is a week so even if it is the router timing out, it should't be happen everyday. I also checked out about 6 pages of logs and all it logs is a bunch of spoof attacks that gets blocked. I might try bypassing sometimes and see how it goes altho I dont really want to.
