    in virtualdubmod i open my video source which happens to be a .vob file and i go to streams the stream list then i right click the audio (Starts in AC3 format) then choose full processing then right click again and choose compression but i dont see lame in there.... so where and how do i install lame so i can choose it in virtualdubmod?

    I don't think you will get lame to work with VD, at least not without a lot of effort. There are workarounds, if you do a search for 'using lame with virtualDub' you might find some. It doesn't sound like it's worth the effort.

    Another solution you could try, is to save the ac3 track as a WAV, then use Audacity to encode it to MP3, cause Audacity uses LAME for its MP3 encoding. Then add the MP3 track into the list in Virtualdubmod.

    Personally I don't think it's that hard - I'm pretty sure I just installed it from here http://rarewares.poskolio.com/lame3.96.1.zip and it works fine in virtualdub
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Well VDub uses ACM codecs and lame includes an ACM compressor. I would still encode externally using BeSweet or HeadAC3he though.
