  1. Can anyone recommend a software solution for capturing directy to MPEG with WinXP except for Ulead's DVD Movie Factory? This program causes a failure in framedyn.dll.

Preferably a free or cheap solution

iuvcr and power vcr II v3 are both about as good as you can get for direct capture. If you find iuvcr let me know, I have power vcr and it is very good but still wanted to give iuvcr a try.

Like I sid, I'm not sure with iuvcr, I only know I have seen other posts here with people really praising it, thats why I wanted to try it, I do know that power vcr does, and does it well, better than ati's mmc which really isn't that bad for a quick capture.

  6. Well iuvcr does not work with WinXP. I got PowerVCR II 3.0 and I love the capabilities but I can't get it to record sound. I have gone through all options and settings and can't get it to work. RRRRRRRR!!!! Anyone have an first hand experience?

  7. WinXP still isn't ready for primetime in regardings to video capturing, VCD making, desktop video, etc. Win2K only just got there with SP2 and all the manufacturers finally updating their products to support Win2K. WDM drivers for all the popular hardware are now just getting stable.

If you can, backtrack to Win2K for your video needs, until a year or so from now.

  8. You may be correct however every program I have tried the sound has worked except Cyberlink's. I find a program that has EXACTLY the features I'm looking for to capture and now the dern sound does not work. D'oh! It's never easy.

You may try NANODVR and NANO PEG EDITOR, both at http://www.nanocosmos.de.

Chances are if your programs don't work under windows xp you did an upgrade, not a fresh install. I did a fresh install over a month ago and even those few programs I have had trouble with, which was about 3 to this point, I got to work by using the compatibiblity tool kit, but not one video program that i use has failed to work flawlessly, and I use about 12 regularly. The only app I never got to work was the rio program for my mp3 player, but with some searching I found a program that worked fine.

Win2000 is ok for video capture, and if that is all I did would be my second choice, but if you use your computer for other things, I'm thinking entertainment here, then XP is the only way to go. Mainly because of the ntfs file system, if you do alot of video the 4gb limit has to go. Yes, you can split files, been there done that. But why?
Ntfs is also a much safer file system.

And no, I have no interest in MS, I am upset that I have to pay to upgrade my OS every year or so to make my system better, but XP is as stable as NT and more compatable than any OS I have used, because of the compatiblity tool kit. My last OS was ME and although I liked it better than 98 there where some programs that I never got to work with it.

  11. I ONLY do Fresh Installs of OS's. This is either a PowerVCR problem which it seems that many people are having or an XP + PowerVCR problem. I'd just like to know if ANYONE has gotten this proggie to work?
