Someone here will know how to do this....... thanks in advance.
I have an authored DVD I downloaded. As I it is a music performance, I want to boost the audio levels to the point just below clipping, using Goldwave. So I copy the DVD footage as an MPEG, using TMPGEnc DVD Author. I then demux it into .m2v and .ac3 files using TMPGEnc Plus. I don't need the .ac3 file, so it is discarded. I then open the MPEG in Goldwave, do a MaxVolume on it, and save it as a .wav. This .wav is then converted to an .mp2. Finally, I author a new, menu-less DVD with the .m2v and .mp2 files.
Now I have a VIDEO_TS folder that has the same core content as the DVD I downloaded, but with much improved (louder) audio. At this point, I could burn the folder to disc and be fine, but........ I really like the menu of the original DVD!
So this is my question: how can I somehow successfully combine the VOBs of my DVD (with no menu) with the menu files of the original DVD (VIDEO_TS.VOB, and the .IFO files)? I want to wind up with the menu of the original cueing to the VOBs I created.
By renaming, cutting and pasting, I was able to hobble together a VIDEO_TS folder that, when played, had no sound and the chapter indexes were off slightly.
From poking around here, I do know the answer lies in Ifoedit. For example, I believe I can correct the chapter indexes by using "Get VTS Sectors", correct?
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can do to accomplish this? I've found a lot of Ifoedit tutorials, but none geared for this exact purpose.
Why is there no sound when I tried to paste the VOBs into the VIDEO_TS with the menu I want to retain?
Like I said, I know the solution to my problem probably lies in Ifoedit, but it is a bit overwhelming. Anybody know of a great tutorial for dummies?
Or is there another solution?
Help anyone!
Thanks a lot.

Hi-
Open the original DVD in VobBlanker. Click on the VTS that contains the concert. In the lower window highlight the PGC containing the concert, hit the "Replace" button to the right, scroll to the DVD you made with new audio, and "Process". That'll give you the new DVD with the old menu (and extras, if any).
I hope you got the original chapters into the reauthored DVD you made. Otherwise you may have problems. Your process was a little screwy, and I didn't quite understand what you did about chapters. If the chapters give you problems, you can go back and demux using PGCDemux and reauthor with IFOEdit or Muxman, using the Celltimes.txt file that PGCDemux gives you for the chapters. -
I am trying to do the same exact thing. Thanks for the suggestion Manono. It is much easier than the guide I was going to use. Can't wait to try it when I get home tonight.

Manono,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond.
Sorry I forgot to mention that yes, I made a note of all the original chapter entry points and recreated them on the menuless DVD I created. So that wasn't a problem.
Your suggestion worked beautifully. VobBlanker is something I will use whenever I need to now. Your instructions were clear, also.
I just love it when I ask, and someone who knows gives an answer.
Thanks again for sharing. I had been messing with this for days....... I should've just aked from the get-go. -
Well, it didn't work as well for me. When I try to open the file in VOBblanker I get an error telling me some menu doesn't exist. Sorry forgot the actual phrase and can't go back now. I'm frustrated.

Hehe, so near, yet so far. OK, you open the VIDEO_TS.IFO from the original full DVD in VobBlanker. You don't open the VTS_01_0.IFO or any other IFO, like the one for just the movie. If you can't do that, then there's something wrong with that DVD. If it doesn't have a VIDEO_TS.IFO, then it's no good, and there's nothing more you can do.
Assuming you actually get the original DVD to open in VobBlanker, then when replacing, you choose the VTS_01_0.IFO of the newly reauthored DVD.
You can try the other guide you were planning to use, but without a VIDEO_TS.IFO, I don't think it will work either.

I'm glad it worked out for you. And maybe your experience will give some encouragement to Rychezilla who's not feeling too good about now. Thanks for the feedback. -
The problem was that I was trying to open the DVD from a folder I ripped using decrypter instead of opening from the disc itself. I can't wait to try it again but upon further review I realize I don't have enough HD space right now because my second one is dead right now.

Hi-
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, you do not open the DVD disc itself. You decrypt it to the hard drive first, using DVD Decrypter set for File Mode (not IFO Mode). Or use DVDFab Decrypter. You do, indeed, open it in VobBlanker from a folder. When I said "original full DVD", I meant the entire DVD decrypted to your hard drive. Sorry if I was unclear.
And yes, you will need some hard drive space, perhaps as much as almost 3x the size of the DVD. You'll have the original DVD, your reencoded and reauthored DVD movie, and the fully processed files. -
