  1. Does anyone know if there is some kind of hack available to disable the 'Copy Protect' feature on the Philllips CDR 796 twin deck? It's driving me around the bend so any help/advice would be appreciated!

    A CD Recorder?
Wow...CD Burning on a computer is much faster, easier and cheaper than doing it the old-fashioned way. My Philips CD Recorder is in a box in the basement somewhere.
I've never heard of a way to remove the copy protection digitally....have you tried playing with another CD player then recording with the Philips via the analog inputs?

  3. I got it at a real bargain price at a time I was without a PC so it's been worth it. I use it mainly as just a CD player but the copying does come in handy sometimes (except for the 'Copy Protect' feature ).

Thanks for the advice but the thought of more wires/cables becoming involved doesn't thrill me!

I think I may retire it as a recorder and use it strictly as a player in future.
