If it was encoded that way, not a lot you can do. If all other videos of similar format play well, then it's probably not a codec problem.

Depending on the format, you can correct the color somewhat. Though it looks like the color problem is uneven. If it's a AVI type format, VirtualDub might help a little. I've used the RGB filter to adjust each color individually with some success.

You might drop it into Gspot and post the screenshot, maybe some information there will help? You can blank out the name of the video, it's not needed.

  3. There color problem does appear to vary across the picture. But a little hue and saturation adjustment can make it look much better:

I haven't tried this with video but I' have done it with B&W images where one side was faded... this will result in some loss in detail if it does work.... Additionally the color change will have to be uniform across the length of the video.

For images, I'll create a new image of the same size as the original. If for example the left side of the image is lighter I'll put a gradient fill starting from dark to white from left to right. Set the transparency on my new image and voila both sides match. There's additional steps I take to preserve detail but they won't apply to video....

If you can apply this to video and how well it will work I don't know, If it was me I'd at least give a try. It works quite well for images. There may even be filters for apllying the same thing, the trouble I have found with filters though is they either filter too much or not enough, never seems to be just right.
