I am thinking of getting a Maxtor SATA hard drive but am not sure whether or not this is a good idea when it comes to capturing video from a Sky Digibox,S-Video with my ATI 9800 AIW card.I would use either VirtualDub or WinDVR for capture.
The reason I ask whether or not I should stick with an IDE drive or change to SATA is because I am sure i have read in older posts on this site that SATA drives can be problematic when capturing.
Am I right?
Thanks.

EIDE is a no-brainer. SATA may have problems with motherboard SATA HDD controllers.
If that happens, you will either need new drivers or a PCI SATA HDD controller card.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

I don't know what all is in my Dell 8400, as far as chipsets/drivers, but I'm running two sata drives, and I've been capturing to a Maxtor 250gb sata drive for over 6 months now with no issues at all. I've captured 6 hours straight of vhs tape, edited, encoded, and burned, all with no issues at all.

I don't consider SATA a risk. Back as it was first coming out? Yes, there were some headaches. Now? Nope, at least not for me.
