    Hi:
I downloaded some free software called ZD Softe Video Recorder, which claims that it can record any video playing on your PC simply, regardless of format, simply by starting it up and drawing a window around the video you want to capture. I tried it and it worked, except that it slowed the source video (playing in Media Player 11) down to a crawl and it became quite jerky as if it were a series of still pics. Thinking it was a memory problem I went out and bought 2 Gb of memory, but that had no effect on the problem. What am I doing wrong? I'm a complete newbie at video capture, if that is what this is called. I don't have a video capture card and don't know if I need one to do this. Someone please tell me what I need to do this successfully. Also any software/hardware suggestions would be appreciated. Is Nero 8 capable of doing this type of live video capture or copying? Thanks in advance for any help I get on this. I read the video capture white papers and didn't understand much at all. Plus they mostly seemed to be about capturing video from a VCR or TV.
    Sincerely,
    djo

Try instead record the video using a stream recorder like orbit downloader or https://forum.videohelp.com/topic270338.html

thanks, I'll try it. In the meantime, can you tell me what a video capture card is needed for? Do I need it to capture video playing on my pc?
