    Hi there, I was told that Nero can convert .avi files to dvd files that will be playable anywhere in the world..is this true?

    False, only in the standard they were shot.

    Are you asking about region coding, playing on a computer or playing on any DVD player?

    A computer doesn't give a sh*t about TV systems, so, yes. It can be done. With any DVD authoring app. But, for pure computer playback, I see no advantage in reencoding the AVI to DVD...

    Yep true on a computer, false on a DVD player* without envolved standards conversion unless your system is multi-system.

    *Most PAL DVD players will play a NTSC DVD using various cheats and mirrors. Most NTSC DVD players will not play PAL encoded DVD.
