    heres my problem
    i've downloaded an avi file: "*XViD AVI"
    when i play the file back in my pc
    the picture quality is perfect but it has no sound !
    i've downloaded other avi files and on play back picture & sound are OK.
    i have windows xp i tried playing the file in:
    PowerDVD, DivX Player. RealPlayer & Windows media player but all have no sound.
    i'm i missing a plug in or something like that ?
    please anyone help me if you can

    You're missing an audio codec. Use GSpot to find out which codec's used.
    ...and remove the file name. Re-read the AUP!

    i've install and ran gspot
    and it says i need XviD
    where do i do and get this XviD codec ?

    XviD is a video codec. Not audio. This cool site is so damned smart, you just have to type "XviD codec" and it creates a link for you to it, see?! Take a look at GSpot again, and this time look at the audio part.

    PS! edit out the whole file name - "Xvid AVI" is enough. DS

    i've installed "XviD codec"
    The Audio In gspot says:
    Name: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc
    Stat: 2 compatible codec installed
    but still i have no sound !
    i must be doing something wrong

    Try installing AC3Filter or the AC3 ACM Decompressor.




    Oh .... and turn your speakers on !

    Installing "AC3Filter " Has Done It
    The DVD Files Now Play With Perfect Audio.
