    Hello -

I burn my avi files to dvd as data instead of dvd format. This
permits me much more files per blank disc. Playback on my
stand-alone players has not been a problem. However, a recent
avi file I aquired was 'alleged' to have been coded with 5.1 sound.
Alas, when I put the avi on a dvd and play it back, my system's
surround indicators do not light up and the center & rear L/R speakers
do not activate. Can someone shed some light regarding this?

    Thnx,

Open the AVI in Gspot or AviCodec and it will tell you what the audio properties are.
