I'm having problems with incomplete burns using, from what I've read to be supposedly some of the better media in comparison to others. I'm ripping using DVD Decrypter, re-authoring with DVD Shrink, and burning with DVD Decrypter on my LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S. I went through a spindle of 25 Maxell DVD+R 8X discs, which on DVD Decrypter show up as Disc ID: MAXELL-002-00. 25 successful burns. I went on to purchase a spindle of 100 Verbatim DVD+R 8X discs, which show up as Disc ID: MCC-003-00. The reviews on Amazon shows them pretty highly regarded, as well as what I've read on them in these forums. I went through the same process as I did previously with the Maxells, and out of 10 trys, got 10 coasters. Even my Jaton PSD7611K player won't play them, and that thing plays just about anything. The disc status on DVD Decrypter, even after it says disc finished successfully shows "incomplete". I'm not doing anything different than what I did using the Maxell discs. I thought, maybe I just got a bad batch...so I went and picked up another spindle of Maxells as a control. I've burned 19 out of 25 and all 19 have worked fine, play fine, show up as "complete" after the burning process. So what's the deal here, am I doing something wrong, or are these highly touted Verbatims really not what they're hyped up to be?

Check the LITEON FORUM at CDFREAKS.COM, you may need a firmware upgrade to your LITEON DVDRW to be compatible with the VERBATIM media. I use the VERBATIM DVD+R up to 16x spd. without any coasters but I use them in my BENQ 1620 & 1640 drives. Sometimes there are bad batches of dvd media just like MAXELL had a few months back.

  3. I've had the same results as Budz with my BenQ 1620 as well.

If the LiteOn supports bit setting, you might want to set your burns to DVD-ROM for greater comp among your players.

I can't get Verbatim discs to reliably produce a DVD movie. Most fail. These are their printable white-tops. I'm using the rest for data only (and they're slow reading).
