  1. Tmpgenc Easy Pack Suite sells for $79.95. It includes Video Encoder xpress, Media Editor & DVD Author.

    Video Encoder xpress costs $49.95
    Media Editor costs $49.95
    DVD Author costs $49.95.

Am I reading this right or am I missing something obvious? Is it really 1/2 price if you buy all 3 together?

Do I loose any functionality by getting TMPGENC 3.0 xpress vs getting TMPGenc plus 2.5? Their website says that 3.0 is the best encoder but the 'xpress' in the title leads me to believe that I'd be loosing some flexibility. Are they pretty much the same things?

Finally, if I use Tmpgenc 3.0 express to encode my MPG, can I use ANY burning software to create my DVD? I tried the 3.0 trial version and created my DVD compliant MPEG. My understanding that this MPEG was completely encoded and can then simply be burned to disc with no additional encoding needed. I was able to do this with DVD Tsumai MPEG DVD Author (no more encoding - it just burned & worked fine).

When I used Roxio & Pinnacle to burn the DVD, I had to 're-encode' the file. I therefore lost quality and the end result looked pretty bad.

So does TMPGenc 3.0 xpress create the final DVD structure or does it just create a MPEG file that then needs to be encoded once again before burned to disc. Hope that makes sense.

    Thank you.

Yes, it created an MPG2 file which has to be authored and a DVD structure created to be burned. Once you have your MPG the authoring should only encode anything new you have added such as menus motion background and or background audio. The MPG2 should not be re encoded. When it is processing the final DVD structure it LOOKS like it is reencoding it but it is merely rewritting as a Vob file.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Also, be aware that the DVD Author version included is NOT the latest release but a slightly improved version of the current older release of TMPGenc DVD Author
