thanks
i know this machine but it's unfortunately only a dvd reader
not a recorder -
I think you may struggle to find one with DV out and i've never heard of a DVD recorder with USB/Ethernet. Looks like you are stuck with using re-writable discs to transfer to your pc.

FTP Access
Get straight access to your DP-558’s Hard Disk from a connected PC with this FTP access. No complicated set-ups, just enter the DP-558’s IP address on your PC’s Internet browser software to view the full content of the player’s Hard Disk. You can now copy all audio, video and picture content to and from the DP-558. You can rename the Hard Disk’s audio, video and picture files from your PC as well as all the recordings you would previously have done. If you need to share your recordings, no problem at all, just copy them to your PC and burn a DVD. It couldn’t be more simple. -
The Panasonic DMR-E500H DVD recorder with 400 gig HD has an ethernet connection I believe.
-
Older Pioneer 625 had IEEE1394 in/out, newer 530 has only in.
Toshiba makes recorders that include Ethernet connection but don't think you can use it to upload to PC actually. -
thanks for your replies
i will look at the characteristics of these devices
i will tell you if i find what i need. -

It has been case here many times that 4 different phone calls resulted to 4 totaly different answers

One more info that you might look into
MPEG4
Codec: Video: MPEG4 conforming,
Audio: G.726 conforming
Number of pixels:
Extra fine/Super fine/Fine: 320x240 (QVGA)
Normal/Economy: 176x144 (QCIF)Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
hey donpedro
i have phoned to the french support
the only thing they can do is to read what they are seeing on the panasonic website
thing i can do by myself
cost: 0.32 $ /min x 5 min = 1,60 for nothing -
another thing on panasonic website
you can find all the DVD recorders manuals online
except these i need
so i will look at toshiba -

Dub copy free content from one RD-XS54 to another if they are connected to the same network.
Stream recorded content or even live programming to a PC.
Add and edit title information to personal home videos from a PC.
Upload custom Menu backgrounds for creating DVD-R/RW discs.
Remotely schedule recordings via email.
Receive automatic software upgrades.
Use a PC scroll mouse to control the recorder for detailed editing of personal home movies. -
