    Hi people!

I'm intend to buy a desktop DVD recorder to record my favorites TV show (cable TV input). I prefer those recorders which store a file format that I may edit them on Adobe Premiere and have hard disk. Accept any reviews or similar stuff.

    Thanks!

Lots to choose from ... I like the Panasonic DMR-EH50

    http://reviews.cnet.com/video-players-and-recorders/panasonic-dmr-eh50/4505-6463_7-31310134.html

I have four of them and I'm only using two of them. They work just fine for my usage.

Smurf will tell you to get a JVC model.

Ebay wize ... here is the link for the remote control

All DVD recorders store video in DVD-Video MPEG-2 format, interlaced. Some versions of Adobe Premiere will accept MPEG-2, some will not. Depends on what you're using.

Premiere Pro 1.5 ans 2 will load mpeg-2, however they decompress it to the timeline, so after editing you have to re-encode the entire video. If you are primarily editing out commercials then you are better off getting videoredo or womble mpeg wizard instead. They are native mpeg-2 editors and will only re-encode if necessary, which for standard trimming means only a few frames here and there.

I found the Philips DVDR3455H/78 recorder model. I'd like some advices about this one. Another question: how can I tranfer data from recorder to PC? Via USB or firewire?

You can use FW, those are very expensive recorders.

Panasonics use dvdram, just put it in your computer & edit it.
