  1. I have an issue currently on my Video PC where if I click on a video file from the folder it is in, Windows Explorer crashes. The video keeps playing, but it is a nuisance.

This happens if I use Windows Media Player 8 and 9, and also Media Player Classic.

PC has XP (no service packs) and is not attached to the Internet.

In addition, Windows Media Player Classic refuses to open any DVDs as this causes WMPC to crash.

Any ideas what I can do as this doesn't seem to co-incide with any new programs installed.

    Thanks

AFAIK this is a bug with XP out of the box.

Maybe some of the results here might assist:

I'm pretty sure that one if not both of the service packs fixes this problem.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Jim, thanks for taking the time to look for that

I did a search on the MS database (using the entry in the event log) and it didn't have the exact match, but suggested a virus was resoponsible. As this PC is never connected to the net, I wondered how this could be. I installed AVG ran a scan and it turned up nothing.

However, since scanning, using AVG (and uninstalling it again) the problem hasn't happenend; keeping my fingers crossed.

Being a Canopus ADVC-50 user, I am extremley reluctant to install any Service Packs as this will return the Black Screen Bug, which I am free of at the moment. Plus SP2 caused so much damage to my DVD making process last time I tried it, it nearly made me revert back to W2K.

I will study the list of returns on the Google: sometimes it is knowing what question to ask! I put in the event log: 0x0002e22a, and there were very few results, none of which were any help.

    Thanks again.
