  1. Ok, this is a noob question but I have "video clips" that i would like to burn to a DVD, So far this is what I have done.

    Used VSO DivxToDVD

To convert to the VTS Files to burn with DVD shrink

Burned it, it works fine on my computer but when i try to use it on the DVD player in the living room it says something like "Eject the disc - Playback feature may not be available " Or something along that line.

Anyone know a way to fix this?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Edit: Also I could not get the guide on how to burn .BIN files, I think Nero has changed.

  2. What type of disc +R or - R?

Open up .cue file in Nero to read .bin to burn. Or use something like vcdgear to extract .mpg then burn in nero.
    Quality is my policy.

First off you're not backing up. You are converting and then authoring and burning to disk. Please answer the person's questions in reply to your first post. Think inside the box. This is how you solve your problem, but you really need to get up to speed on the how too guides to better understand your problem. Simple stating "I have video clips" tells us nothing about the source format which they are in. A re you producing a DVD or DIVX disk ?

Maybe your DVDs are to small. Somewhere I read, that the minimum size should be > 1024 MB. How did you author them?

Still means a BIG 0!!! The file size does not correlate at all with the actual length of the viewable movie. You downloaded these didn't you? Thwy could be all sort of variants of the so called AVI container. There utilities that will give you all the "Internal " info on these things.

Your original use of VSO DivxToDVD was correct. You sdhsould have ended up with a set of files inside a VIDEO_TS folser. These files are burned to DVD in DVD/Movie mode for instance when using Nero Burning Rom. The files are place INSIDE the VIDEO_TS folder that Nero automatically creates for you. The files by themselves will play on a PC but never on a set top DVD.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

How is this different from backing up dvds? They use the video ts folder and same file types and they work in a normal player....

    Anyone else?

You are not backing up a DVD, you are creating a DVD.

Test the DVD you authored by playing the files with PowerDVD. Be certain to use the option "Open DVD file on hard disk drive". If the DVD does not play, then the problem was most likely with the authoring stage. If the DVD plays properly then the problem is most likely with the burning stage.

From your original post I presume this is how you concluded your problem is with the burning.

When you say "burn with DVD Shrink" are you using DVDDecrypter or Nero as the burn engine?

  10. When you back up a DVD, your starting point is a set of files KNOWN TO BE COMPLIANT WITH DVD STANDARDS. You also have a compliant file structure.

When you create a DVD from a video which comes from another source, then YOU must make certain that it is converted in such a way that it is compliant with DVD standards. You must also make sure to create the file structure correctly.

Strongly recommend reading up on some guides and various methods, if you do not currently understand that there IS a difference, you will have a way to go to ensure that those differences do not exist.

You also need to find out what dvd's work best in your standalone dvd player, and use the correct type - or +, and make sure that you use a good quality media.
