I produce videos for a living. There's a big debate in my industry right now about which DVD burning technology would make the best investment. DVD-R has been around and the Pioneer A03 has become an industry standard. People in the DVD-R camp argue that their technology is best because:
a) It's a proven technology
b) The media is cheap
DVD+RW was recently released to the public. Manufacturers such as HP and Ricoh now offer drives that feature this technology. The folks supporting this technology claim:
a) DVDs burned with DVD+RW are compatible with greater numbers of players
b) While the media may currently be more expensive than DVD-R, prices will drop as more people buy and use the technology
A comparison of the two technologies based solely on their stated feature sets would give DVD+RW the upper hand. Unfortunately, there haven't been loads of reports from people who are actually using them.
What report can anyone offer in the way of "hands on" experience with the DVD+RW drives?
