Ok I am running and XBox 360 and a PC on one 40" HDTV. The computer is on the VGA input and the XBox 360 is on the HDMI input. Is there any possible way the computer can record the footage from the HDMI input?

No.
You would have to have a capture card with HDMI input, plug the 360 into the PC, then pass-through to the TVRead my blog here.
