  1. I was lent a DVD in Greece which had been made by the hotel owner. I could play it on my iBook but when I tried to Toast a copy of it, Toast stalled about a quarter way in and the internal drive simply buzzed and clicked until I forced it to quit. (I've had this happen previously with scratched discs). I cleaned and polished the disc but copying failed.

However, I was able to copy the folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO-TS.

Is it possible to reconstruct the DVD from this? AUDIO_TS is empty while VIDEO-TS contains three VIDEO files and three VTS files.

I'm not a mac user but this is a dvd question.

Yes the video_ts folder IS the dvd. The audio_ts is supposed to be empty.

Simply burn the dvd with the video_ts folder and the audio_ts folder as the MAIN directories.

    D:\

    video_ts
    audio_ts

Then it will work just fine.

  3. So I simply set Toast to burn a DVD and drag these two folders into the window?

    OK, I'll try that.

  4. Make sure you select DVD-ROM (UDF) and hit New Disc before dragging the two *****_TS folders in.

  5. Uh, how do I do that in Toast Titanium 6.0.9 ?

I selected "Data" and "Mac or PC" and "DVD" and dragged the folders in. The result was less than successful.

DVD player launches but can't play the disc.

VLC plays the file VTS_01_1.VOB all right but with no sound.

  6. In the Data tab, click the little bluish drawer button on the upper left hand side to make the drawer come out and then select the Advanced tab in the drawer. The DVD-ROM (UDF) option will now be available.

Don't forget to hit New Disc before adding your folders or it's coaster #2

  7. By version 6.0.9 Roxio had made a few changes to Toast 6.

To do you want you want you can either use the DVD-ROM option in Data tab, or the DVD from VIDEO_TS folder in the Video tab. If you choose the latter, Toast will automatically add an empty AUDIO_TS folder, and filter out any Mac hidden files that the OS may have added to your folder.

Also, you no longer need to hit New Disc when using the DVD-ROM option - Toast will do that too.

Martin, have you tried MacTheRipper on the DVD? If you can
play it, MTR might well be able to put the files on your HD in
useful form. Then compress as needed and burn a copy.
