    Hi,

I'm trying to convert an .avi file into a DVD. I followed the steps in the "how to". The conversion process is finished, but now that I'm ready to burn the fil, I can only find an .mpg file. It seems that no AUDIO_TS or VIDEO_TS or movie.dvd file was produced by the converter.

Anybody know what I have done wrong?
    Thanks in advance

  2. What "how to" did you use?

Possibly there was some kind of error between creating the .mpg file and using that to create a VIDEO_TS folder. The Process Information log could confirm that. (You may access this log by clicking the blue "i" in the ffmpegX Progress window.)

Did you try to include subtitles? If so, what format?
Did you try playing the .mpg file? Is it complete?

    Thank you for responding

I used the how to on the ffmpegx page - http://www.ffmpegx.com/dvd_sub.html

Unfortunately I closed the Progress window, is there a way to bring it back to access the process info log?

I included subtitles in .srt format
I tried to play the file with VLC, with DVD reader and with Quicktime, it doesn't work.

Here are the files that have been created by the conversion process:

    .avi.ff.ac3
    .avi.ff.m2v
    .avi.ff.mpg
    .avi.ff.mpg.s.mpg
    .avi.ff.mpg.xml

The log is only in memory; if you quit Progress.app, the log is lost. I'm afraid you'll have to encode again to see the log again.

    Okay, SubRip .srt is good.
If the .mpg file doesn't work, then perhaps the error happened earlier in the process, before the inclusion of the subtitles and before trying to create the VIDEO_TS folder.

If VLC won't play a file, then it is expected that other players won't play it either. There are some exceptions, but not with AVI or MPG.
