  1. hi ,

i use clonedvd with dvdregion+css free to copy protected dvds and it works fine but clonedvd need to reduce the quality by 50% to copy them although the original 4.7GB and blanck one is the same size or i need to use double layer dvd to get it with the same quality , so is there any other software which keep the same quality for the copied dvd ?

    thanks for help....

  2. I really dont think that is possible since most dvds are 6gb or over. You have to shrink it to fit on 4.7 gb dvd. Unless your talking about using a dual layer burner. Some animation dvds are less than 4.7 along with some other movies. Are you doing whole disc or movie only?

If you want to guarantee that the quality is the same then you will have to use Dual Layer, as a significant proportion of DVDs go over the 4.7Gb.

If you are happy with ripping out the movie only then you will get a larger proportion of movies on single layer discs without loosing any quality.

I have always been happy with the results i have achieved with DVD Decrypter and Shrink. However 50% sounds a lot, i try not to compress down to less than 70% of the original.

Like dvdguy4 said, if you don't want any compression, use DL disks. Just make sure your DVD players can read them. You can't fit more than 4.7 GB on a single-layer disk without compression. Compression reduces quality.

I don't know anything about clonedvd, but I somehow I doubt that it says that the *quality* will be reduced 50%. Maybe it will compress 50%, but announcing a 50% quality reduction seems rather self-denigrating.
ATTENTION: The quality of my output will henceforth be reduced by half.

  5. You may also want to try DVD ReBuilder, which clones while being selective about "what quality is given to which element of the DVD".

The Pro version is not free, but it is very cheap right now ($10 or $15 I think) until the final release is published.

Or you always have the option of splitting the movie to 2 DVDRs with no quality loss at all. For example, using DVDFab

There is really no best software (if there was, all the other companies would be out of business).

Its what suits you. Its down to personal preference. Depends of what features you would be using. I would suggest you download some trail versions of the software and give them a go. Do some encoding and see the results for yourself to determine which is best for you. All people can do is recommend which works best for them, but its not necessarily the best.
