    Hello nice peeps!

I was trying to convert this certain MKV file into an AVI, but when I ran MKVExtract_GUI on it, I noticed something:

When I extracted the vid, it produced an AVI that cannot be played by any of players, namely VLC, Media PLayer Classic and WMP10. VirtualDub Mod isn't much of a help either, as it can't extract the video part.

    Any suggestions?

What does that error say ?

It's too small for me to read
    If in doubt, Google it.

The Video Track has this (the encircled one)

    TrackID 1: video (V_MS/VFW/FOURCC,WMV3)

Do I need something else like codecs?

And oh when I close MKVExtract this error msg appears:

"Cannot Create D:\...\mkvextractgui\Formats.txt. Access is denied."

    What do I do?

WMV3 = Windows Media Video 9. VLC should play it back. As should mpc, wmp10, etc. since you should have a dmo decoder installed.

  8. There is a VCM codec for WMV9 out. Use Google.

Well, I encoded the MKV to AVI using TMPGEnc, and it went just fine.

After that I found out about the VCM codec while TMPGEnc was encoding :P
